There’s nothing quite like fresh pineapple juice. Sweet, refreshing, with just the right amount of acidity—it’s like tasting the tropics.
But because pineapples are soft and fibrous, they can be tricky to juice, especially if you’re making them yourself. We tested a variety of methods and found the best and easiest way to juice pineapples. This technique prevents clogging, produces more juice, and speeds up cleaning.
Why it works
Pineapples contain fibers that run horizontally, and the center contains fibers that run vertically. Cutting the pineapple and the center in opposite directions will break the fibers into smaller pieces, which prevents clogging.
Squeezing the center at the end of the session will push out any pulp remaining in the juicer.
Can I make pineapple peel juice?
Yes and no. Juicers can process pineapple peels, but it can be difficult to thoroughly remove bacteria and dirt from the pineapple skin before juicing. If you want to peel your pineapple before juicing but don’t want to throw away the peels, here are other ways to reuse pineapple peels for zero-waste juice.
Pineapple Juice Making Demonstration
In this helpful demonstration by @jeffjuices, he peels his pineapple. That’s why it’s mentioned in our instructions to peel the pineapple, but you can leave the skin on as long as you clean it thoroughly.
- Cut off the top and bottom of the pineapple. Peel off the skin. After that, you will only have a yellow fruit standing on the cutting board.
- Similar to how you sliced off the skin, cut the outside of the pineapple into thin slices, no more than ½ inch thick. Rotate the fruit and repeat until you reach the center.
- Once the core is left, place it on a cutting board horizontally. Slice it into pieces about ½ inch in size. Set aside for later use.
- Squeeze each pineapple slice. Remember to do it slowly. Insert one pineapple slice, watch the juicer screw pull it down, then insert the next slice.
- Squeeze out the core.
- Once everything appears to have been processed, hold the reverse button for a few seconds, then run the juicer for another 30 seconds.
- Turn off the machine and enjoy your pineapple juice. Pineapple juice can be stored in an airtight container for up to 72 hours.
