Nothing says summer like a refreshing, cold treat! Popsicles, ice cream, and other frozen treats are all the rage on warm summer days, no matter your age. But have you ever tried granita? More delicious than water ice and less creamy than ice cream, granita is like shaved ice, but with a twist.
This Watermelon Granita recipe has only three ingredients and is a delicious and easy way to cool and refresh the body. With a prep time of only 5 minutes, this is a simple dish that you can make and have ready to eat for those hot summer days.
INGREDIENTS
- ½ medium sized watermelon
- 1 slice lime with peel
- a little sugar to sweeten if needed
TIP
Adjust the amount of watermelon according to the texture. You can replace the milk with soda water or Sprite. Prepare and slice the ingredients before freezing for easy mixing.
METHOD
- Watermelon and lime juice.
- Pour into a wide, shallow pan and freeze for 1 hour.
- Scrape the mixture with a fork and freeze for another hour.
- Scoop and freeze for another hour.
- Strain and serve in cups.
NUTRITION
Serve when it has become porridge and is crispy.
Tip: If you want, you can make the dessert even more special and make an adult granita! Add ½ cup of vodka along with the lime and sugar. This version will be a little thinner, since the vodka won't freeze.
